Solar Ventilation
A solar fan is a mechanical fan powered by solar panels. The solar panels are either mounted on the device or are installed separately – normally on a roof. Solar fans generally do not require power sources other than solar power from a solar panel, as most of them are used for cooling purposes during day time. Some types of solar powered fans can even be used for heating purposes, like our Solar Air Module, which lowers heating costs in winter. Regardless of whether they’re helping to heat or cool your home, solar panels need to be positioned strategically on your roof so that they get the most sun available to them.
A roof-mounted solar fan will be effective in removing excessive heat from your roof or attic. When mounted near the peak the solar fan forces hot air out while pulling fresh air in via eave/roof vents. This exchange of air keeps your room or the attic space from overheating.
Solar Sub-Floor Ventilation
Solar powered fans are ideal for sub-floor ventilation. The main benefit of using solar-powered fans for sub-floor ventilation is that they operate at their maximum capacity when the sun is strongest and the ambient air is driest. When overcast or raining, the fans will slow down or not operate – as is the case after sunset – when humidity levels rise. The dependence on solar radiation ensures the ideal performance of solar fans for sub floor ventilation.
As you can see from the above applications, solar fans can be used across a wide range of applications. In order to operate our solar fans effectively, GES has a matching range of customised solar panels for the solar powered fans available.
